Deck the Halls with This Cozy, Glam Living Room

As a senior designer for Havenly, one of our editors was asked to design a space inspired by a certain holiday theme to help celebrate the season! With four choices, she chose the “Holiday Like You’re a 3-Star Chef” vibe, which was inspired by the elegant simplicity of a wine country aesthetic, giving the space a fresh – yet classic – holiday look that speaks to those who embrace the season in a timeless fashion.

Since this particular holiday theme was all about entertaining, she made sure to add a lot of extra seating for guests, a bar cart filled with seasonal libations, and plenty of space on the coffee table and side tables for cheese boards, wine & more! Read on to find out more about the design, as well as the furniture, décor & accessories, and holiday decorations! We hope this elegant space helps you get into the holiday spirit – and realize that you can have a gorgeous abode that’s stylish, comfortable, and ready to host guests all year round! The Furniture

Since this design was created specifically to have a holiday feel, we wanted to keep the base very neutral with lots of whites, warm woods, and black contrasts – with a touch of glam coming from the gold details and velvet materials. Overall, the space feels very refined and glamorous – yet it’s also quite casual with organic materials and lots of fun seating for friends & family to gather around the table! We love this super-affordable wool rug by Nuloom (so cozy!) paired with a white sofa, a statement wood coffee table, and the ottomans & poufs in black velvet, ivory wool, and a batik-inspired fabric. The goal was to have a nice base to add on to as the seasons change – easily switching out pillows, accessories, and décor to get the look you want!

The Décor & accessories

Since this particular abode has a mix of traditional-chic elements (like the glam wainscoting around the room & the formal fireplace) as well as some more natural details (like the light wood flooring & beams overhead), we wanted the décor of the living space to feel very neutral with a “laid-back meets elegant” vibe. The gold chandelier from McGee & Co., the Safavieh bar cart, and the ornate mirror over the fireplace provide a stark contrast to the Surya charcoal lamps & iron sconces, and all together these seemingly “different style” pieces create a beautiful foundation for some fun pillows in an array of patterns & textures – as well as some cozy & unique décor! How cute would it be to put a Santa hat on the CB2 bust sculpture?

HOLIDAY DECORATIONS & Entertaining Pieces

Now for the fun part! We love adding new holiday-inspired pieces every season that mean something & hold a special memory so that each year, our minds are filled with the happy memories from the previous years! For such a neutral space in this design, we knew we needed to add some life with greenery – like the pine & eucalyptus hanging from the bar cart, a fresh olive leaf & myrtle garland on the fireplace mantle, and a pinecone candelabrum on the coffee table. We also added glam gold elements like this brass tray for passing out smaller presents, a marble & brass cheeseboard for entertaining, and cute reindeer sculptures on the side tables! And of course, the holidays wouldn’t be complete without some adorable faux fur stockings & your preferred red wine served from a fancy decanter into our favorite wine glasses (all of the Olivia Pope & Scandal fans out there may recognize these!).
