Must-Try Recipe: Fig & Burrata Salad

The minute we saw Camille Styles' recipe for her fig & burrata salad, we knew we had to try figs with one of our favorite cheeses – burrata! Camille’s recipe is a bit more complex than ours, but we simplified it & took the easy route. This dish is perfect for an appetizer or after-dinner snack. It’s so tasty that it’s almost like dessert!

We hadn’t had figs in years, but were reminded of them when looking up whether there really are dead wasps in every fig. We still don’t know if it is 100% true since some say commercial figs don’t require pollination, but even if it is true, we don’t care. Figs are delicious no matter what died inside of them…especially paired with creamy burrata.

Fig, Burrata & arugula salad

Prep time: 5-10 minutes
Servings: 4-6 people as an appetizer (or 2 if you’re hungry like we were)

Ingredients
1/2 bag of arugula (we get ours from Trader Joe’s because it's pre-washed!)
2 balls of burrata - the $5 container from Trader Joe’s comes with 2 balls – delish & cost effective!
Balsamic Glaze - again the one from TJs is great!
Container of fresh figs
Olive oil (we probably used 1 tablespoon)
Salt (to taste)
Pepper (to taste)

Instructions
Layer the bottom of a serving plate with fresh arugula.
Drizzle with olive oil and top with salt & pepper. Toss together.
Remove the stem area from the figs & cut in half or quarter depending on the size – set aside.
Break up the balls of burrata with your hands and distribute evenly along the platter.
Nestle the figs in the arugula & around the burrata pieces.
Top with a drizzle of balsamic glaze – as much as you want! – and dig in. Enjoy!!

This recipe is super simple & totally fresh! The figs pair perfectly with the burrata, the arugula adds a bit of bitterness, and the salt, pepper & olive oil add a savory element that complements the sweetness of the figs and balsamic glaze.
