A Modern Lake House with a Bold Neutral Color Palette
We’ve always been big fans of Studio McGee – in fact, one of our very first interior designer spotlight features was put together with the help of their team! The husband-and-wife duo have grown so much over the past few years, even opening a brick-and-mortar and online store McGee & Co., which we use to source great light fixtures, high-end furniture pieces, and lovely accent pieces for our clients. Their laid-back, casual style feels homey and lived in, which is why it’s loved by many – we also love Shea McGee even more after listening to her episode on Jenna Kutcher’s Goal Digger podcast! A lot of our design clients reference Studio McGee and McGee & Co. as inspiration to blend colors & patterns, modern & vintage, etc. to create a cohesive look that’s both timeless and refined.
One of our favorite full designs of theirs is the Modern Lake House project. Not only is the home itself stunning with its natural light, black-framed windows, wooden features, and stone elements, but the look is built upon with a neutral color palette for the décor featuring modern black accents. The entryway is extremely striking, the living room is cozy, and the dining room is chic with leather pieces that complement the sofa in the main living space. We love the serene bedrooms, gorgeous bathrooms & the kitchen is a dream! Take a look at some photos from the space to inspire your own home – we even pulled together some pieces to shop the look!
