September Five Things // From The Inspired Abode
Although it’s still summer for a few more days in LA (even warmer than it was during ‘real summer’), we’re always excited when the fall season rolls around. With that said, we’re back with this month’s edition of Five Things. Take a look below to see what we’ve been loving this month – and share your monthly musings with us!
WHAT WE’RE WATCHING…
The new season of Mindhunter is on Netflix! We’re still finishing up Haunting of Hill House because it’s too scary to watch at night, and also too much to watch multiple episodes in a row, but we can’t wait to get started on season 2 of Mindhunter. If you haven’t heard of it & are interested in true crime stories, you’ll love it! In a scripted format, it dives into the minds of some of the most notorious serial killers in a time when the term ‘serial killer’ didn’t even exist yet.
WHAT WE’RE LISTENING TO & READING…
The past few weeks, we’ve really enjoyed listening to Liz Moody’s Healthier Together podcast. She has interviewed some of our favorite food bloggers, including Tieghan Gerard of Half Baked Harvest, Gaby Dalkin of What’s Gaby Cooking, Jeannette Ogden of Shut The Kale Up & Kelly LeVeque!
WHAT WE’RE EATING & DRINKING…
One of our editors just became a wine club member for the first time! While visiting Carmel over Labor Day Weekend & enjoying a tasting at KORi Wines with friendly tasting room hosts (including the brother of Kori herself!), she decided it was so good & there was enough of a connection to take the plunge. So excited to receive the first box in November!
WHAT WE’RE EYEING…
Maybe it’s because autumn is coming & there’s something about warming up in the kitchen, but we’ve been wanting to try a ton of new recipes lately! One of our favorite things to do is to flip through cookbooks to look at the recipes & photos, and we pulled together 24 cookbooks we’re eyeing here.
WHERE WE’VE BEEN…
We visited South Lake Tahoe for the first time last weekend with some girlfriends & we had the best time catching up, relaxing & having fun all around town. We hiked (super easy!) to Angora Lakes & rented paddle boards and were so lucky to visit the final weekend before it closed for the season. After washing up, we ventured out on the town for dinner & dancing. In all honesty, we found some parts of South Lake Tahoe to be a little less-than-chic with some unfriendly/mean people who don’t seem to like visitors, but with a good group of girlfriends anywhere is fun! We also rented a boat for 4 hours on Saturday & had so much fun being carefree while tubing & hanging out! We used to visit Manitoulin Island in Canada every summer & we’ve missed all lake activities ever since. We’re looking forward to going back & potentially trying out North Lake Tahoe for a ski trip!
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FORWARD TO…
Although we’ve been a bunch of times, we’re really looking forward to spending an extra long weekend in Las Vegas with our mom in October. We’re going to see the LOVE Cirque du Soleil show & we can’t wait! Our jaws were on the floor last time we saw a Cirque show, so we can’t wait to see one paired with The Beatles music. If you have any suggestions for restaurants or things to do in Vegas (besides the usual!), please let us know in the comments!
We’d love to know what you’ve enjoyed watching, listening to, eating, drinking & what you’ve been eyeing and are looking forward to. Let us know in the comments section or send us a DM on Instagram! Don’t forget to follow us on Pinterest to see what inspires us daily!
Oh & if you haven’t checked it out already, we recently launched our very own e-design packages! If you’re looking to revamp your bedroom, living room, kitchen or office, we can help!
